Bachelor in Information Management
BIM Program's Objectives & Mission:
The mission of Faculty of Management's Bachelor in Information Management (BIM) program is to develop socially responsible, scientific approached, result oriented information technology (IT) professionals. The BIM program is designed to equip graduates with the skills and attributes required to be effective and efficient information technology professionals.
The specific objectives of the program are to:

Prepare IT professionals proficient in the use of computers and computational techniques in order to develop effective information systems to solve real life problems in the organizational milieu.

Develop students' skill in object-oriented software design methods and data management systems.

Industrial Attachment Project
Students during the Eighth Semester shall be attached to organizations where they have to work for a period of eight weeks. Each student shall prepare an individual report in the prescribed format based on his or her work in the respective organization assigned to him/her. Evaluation of the industrial attachment shall be based on the project report. The report must be submitted by the end of the Eighth Semester. Students must secure a grade 'C' in the industrial attachment project. The industrial attachment project report shall carry a value equivalent to 6 credit hours.
Eligibility Condition for Admission
The candidate applying for BIM program must have:

Successfully completed a twelve-year schooling or equivalent from any University, Board or Institution recognized by Tribhuvan University.

Secured a minimum of second division in the twelve-year schooling or equivalent.
-
Complied with all the application procedures.
Admission Criteria:
Written Test: Applicants are required to appear in the entrance test conducted by the Faculty of Management. The test will follow the international testing pattern and standards. It includes area like:

Interview: Only short-listed candidates from the written test will be interviewed and selected for admission.
Teaching Pedagogy
The general teaching methodology includes class lectures, group discussions, case studies, practical exercises, laboratory work, project work, and term papers. The teaching faculty according to the needs of the course will determine the choice of the teaching methodology.
The concerned teacher/instructor shall develop a detailed course outline and work plan at the beginning of each semester and also recommend the basic text and other reference materials for teaching -learning of the course modules.
Grading System |
The BIM program will be executed through the semester system. There will be altogether eight semesters required to complete the regular program. The internal (on going) evaluation shall carry 40 percent weight while the external (end of semester) examination shall carry 60 percent weight. The final grade shall be determined on the overall performance in the internal and external examinations. |

Passing Grade and Grading System |
Students must secure a minimum of grade 'C' or Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 in the internal evaluation in order to qualify to appear in the semester examination. The passing grade in the semester examination for an individual paper is also grade 'D' or GPA of 1.5. In order to pass the semester examination the student must secure Grade 'C' or the average Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0. |

Make-up Examination and Re-registration |
Students who secure a Semester Grade of 'C' but failing in one or more courses at the end of semester examinations can appear in the make-up examination in the subsequent semester. A student can appear in only two courses (6 credit hours) in the make-up examination. If the student fails in the make-up examination he/she shall have to re-register and repeat the course as per the course cycle. A student can re-register only two courses (6 credit hours ) in a semester. The examination of the re-registered course shall be held as per the course cycle. |
Attendance |
Students are required to attend regularly all lectures, practical classes, seminars and presentations as required by the course. A candidate is required to attend at least 80% of such activities in order to be eligible to appear in the semester examination. |

Credit Transfer and Withdrawal
The program allows students to transfer the credits earned by them in similar program of other universities recognized by Tribhuvan University. The maximum credit transfer allowed to a student shall be 30 credit hours. The FOM shall have the authority to decide on the credit transfers.
A student who has partially completed the BIM Program and would like to discontinue his/her studies shall also be allowed to withdraw from the program. In such cases, a certificate specifying the credit earned by the student in the Program shall be provided.
Graduation Requirements
The BIM program extends over eight semesters(four academic years). The BIM degree is awarded on its successful completion. All candidates for the BIM degree must fulfill the following requirements:

The successful completion of 120 credit hours as prescribed with passing grades of D or GPA of 1.5 in all the papers with an aggregate CGPA of 2.00.

A minimum of grade 'C' obtained in the Project Work.

Completion of courses for the fulfillment of the requirements of the BIM Program must occur within seven years from the time of registration.
